About Me
Hi! As you may have gathered, my name is Korena. I live in Victoria, BC, with my boyfriend, Nate (who thinks this blog should be called “Cooking with K-Dog”), and my cat, Riley. As you also may have gathered, I have a slight obsession with food: I love it. My favorite hobbies are cooking, baking, and eating, and my favorite books are cookbooks. My non-food-related hobbies include reading, gardening, running, and working out (mostly so I can keep eating!).
My approach to cooking and eating is mostly guided by quality and taste, which to me (usually) means cooking from scratch using whole, unprocessed foods (local and/or organic when available). I try to practice moderation rather than avoidance when it comes to less-than-healthy foods, but I do have a pronounced sweet tooth and a penchant for chocolate. Most of the time, I am drawn to recipes that have flavourful descriptions, colourful pictures, and simple cooking methods, however I also love to take on big projects in the kitchen (such as the wedding cake I made for my friend). As such, I am part of an online cooking group called The Daring Bakers, which means every month I get to challenge my skills and learn techniques with a new recipe/project.
Some of these recipes are my own, some are inspired by other recipes, and some are borrowed, in which case I will always try to give credit where credit is due. My main purpose here is to keep a record of my own cooking and eating adventures, so to anyone reading this, I hope you enjoy it!
(And, while I consider myself a pretty good cook, I am definitely not a good photographer and I have an old camera, so please excuse the shoddy pictures!)
